The air is getting crisper. The coffees are getting spicier. The sleeves are getting longer. And the TV is getting newer. Okay, that doesn’t make much sense but the point I’m trying to make is that there are a bunch of new television shows premièring over the next couple of weeks. And with the new shows come some new stars that could become our new breakout favourites. We picked a handful of young ones that we suggest you start name dropping soon so that you can say, “Remember? I was talking about them back in 2014.”
Alfie Enoch (above):
Alfred was basically the catalyst for this blog. When I heard that someone from Harry Potter was going to be in a new show that I was really looking forward to, I knew I had to make sure to spread the word. Alfred broke in to acting as Dean Thomas in all eight Harry Potter films. Now he stars as Wes Gibbins in the new show How To Get Away With Murder about a group of law students and their teacher who delivers her lessons in unconventional ways. HP stars growing up, getting handsome and making it big. We can get down with that.
Garfunkel & Oates:
This sing-songing comedy duo have been together for seven years but they finally have their own TV show. They may already have a huge following but now that they on television every week, I predict big things for these gals. Think the vulgar-ness of Abbi and Ilana from Broad City with the sweetness of Zooey Deschenal. Sounds like a perfect mix to me!

Grant Gustin:
The former Glee star nabbed the coveted role of The Flash in the new television adaptation of the superhero comic. The show tells the story of Barry Allen who becomes the super speedy The Flash after a lightening accident involving a particle accelerator. The Flash is also the sister show to the already very successful Arrow. Grant appeared on that show as his character Barry Allen that launched The Flash as a spin-off. With that built in fan base, the show is sure to be a hit.
Robin Lord-Taylor:
There are a lot of good young stars on the Commissioner Gordon origin series Gotham, but I have always had an affinity for the character of the Penguin so I am very excited to see where Robin takes it. Robin plays Oswald Cobblepot, not yet the Penguin, when he is coming up in Gotham’s crime world under Jada Pinkett-Smith’s kingpin Fish Mooney. After the first episode premièred this week, the show has gotten a lot of high praise for it’s unusual take on the Batman world and it’s stylish vision. Our prediction is that it will be Robin who steals the show.
Zoe Levin & Charlie Rowe:
These two are part of a big ensemble cast of new actors. Their new show Red Band Society is about teenage drama at a paediatric hospital. Charlie’s character (Leo Roth) has had his leg amputated and Zoe’s character (Kara Souders) is waiting for a heart transplant. Not the first thing you would flick to when you turn on your television but know this; Steven Spielberg is producing this show. I remember seeing Charlie Rowe for the first time as a young Andrew Garfield in Never Let Me Go. And he looked A LOT like a Garfield mini me. This is definitely an unusual take on the high school drama but it might just be what that genre needs.
